Perl

Perl is a text processing language. It is used a lot on the Internet, both on Servers, EMail Servers and Web Servers.

It's a very good language for translating Excel or Access databases into MySQL. You export the data to a text file format and a custom perl script can translate this into SQL statements for insertion into a web database.
